Fashionistas, watch out! School uniforms are back – and they’ll be around long after Fashion Week.
A parade of plaids skirts, button-down shirts and khakis are squeezing their way into this year’s back-to-school wardrobes. While sales of children’s apparel have been weak in recent months, the demand for uniforms in New York City schools is rising. With about 620,000 students wearing uniforms in city schools this fall — and more adopting the practice every year — major retailers are cashing in on the trend.
