BRONX —

With bars, dance clubs and other nightspots pinched by the pandemic, one set of neighborhoods in this borough is making more noise about loud music than anywhere else in the city.

Calls to 311 about excessively noisy neighbors and disruptive pop-up parties have surged across the city, nowhere more so than in the community district that includes Williamsbridge, Wakefield, Woodlawn, Baychester and Edenwald.

“I would say that’s like 90 percent of the phone calls these days,” said George Torres, manager for Community District 12 in the North Bronx.

Police officers track social media posts for word of upcoming events and reach out to homeowners to let them know that large-sale parties are not allowed. When parties are busted, police will confiscate sound equipment, alcohol and other gear more suited for nightclubs than private residences.
