When the first wave of  the pandemic hit New York, few healthcare professionals could have foreseen how devastating the coronavirus would be for Filipino nurses.

Of all the nurses who died from the virus nationwide, close to a third were Filipino. In the New York City area alone, at least 30 Filipino healthcare workers had died from the virus by June.

With the arrival of another COVID-19 wave in the city, many Filipino nurses fear their hospitals could again be staggered.
