Manhattan —
Since the early 1950s, the Vargoshe family tree has been a playground for the Vargoshe children of Shelton, Connecticut. Now the 12-ton tree has made its way to Rockefeller Plaza where it will be covered with five miles of wire holding 45,000 LED lights, partly powered by solar panels.
The 81st Rockefeller Christmas Tree Lighting is set for Dec. 4. The 76-foot tree will be on display until Jan. 7.
