Brooklyn —

Brooklyn Bazaar, a go-to spot in Greenpoint for politics and partying since it reopened just before the first presidential debate, plans to step up the successful mix on election night with “Nasty Woman” and “Bad Hombre” drinks, among other fun.

“We started with the first two debates just kind of randomly and then made the last one an official event and we were packed,” said Belvy Klein, one of the bar’s owners. “It really went off awesome.”

Greenpoint resident and regular patron Peter Kirchhausen said watching a debate at the Bazaar  was fun. “There were about 100 people there, some rowdy, some focused,” he said.  “Election night will be wild, and I’ll definitely be there with fingers crossed for our country.”

Klein and co-owner Aaron Brouda said they noticed during the third debate on Oct. 19 that whenever Republican candidate Donald Trump said “Wrong!” or “Puppet!” patrons would drink shots.

When Trump called Democrat Hillary Clinton a “nasty woman,” and called some undocumented immigrants in the U.S. who commit crimes “bad hombres,” the phrases stuck.

Two new drinks were born at Brooklyn Bazaar and will debut on Nov. 8. The “Nasty Woman” is a whiskey concoction and the “Bad Hombre” is a tequila drink special.

Patrons are drawn to Brooklyn Bazaar not only for the projection screen, big TVs and the food, but for the ping pong, mini golf, arcade games, vendors and music-performance area.

The venue was displaced from its original location on Banker Street in Brooklyn by a BMW retailer.  The new Brooklyn Bazaar, which opened on Sept. 26, takes up three levels of a former catering hall on Greenpoint Avenue near Manhattan. The music space can hold up to 500 people. In addition to arcade games, the basement houses private karaoke lounges.

“It’s kind of like ‘American Horror Story’ and ‘The Shining’ meet ‘Scarface’ as a three-level venue,” said Klein.

“Seeing the results in real time on election night is an affirming thing that’s more fun to do with a crowd,” Brouda said.
