On a narrow sidewalk on the edge of Bushwick, a DJ was blasting techno, his mixer set up on a folding table. The smell of grilled hot dogs and hamburgers wafted from a nearby grill as a crowd chatted and ate.

The scene would have been reminiscent of a block party—were it not for the hand sanitizer masks and piles of clothes free for the taking.

Caitlin Baucom, who had run raves at Trevors Haus, a loft venue at 1083 Broadway, now offers a community hub on the street out front.

“The intention is to be an open container that has as many resources as possible in place,” said Baucom.
