BROOKLYN —
An abandoned East Flatbush car wash, notorious as a site for illegal dumping, was the target of another recent community cleanup.
The remnants of the Qualimax Car Wash, which long ago closed its doors, include wrecked cars and tall piles of all kinds of trash. Advocates say the mess highlights how difficult it is for the city to take over properties that become hazards.
Now a neighborhood group is hoping the eyesore can become a community center.
