BRONX —

At the New York Sluggers Academy in Port Morris, 12-hour days are the new normal for former pro Eladio Rodriguez. 

The extra hours are needed to properly sanitize and disinfect the batting cages and other equipment.

Trainees at the academy Rodriguez founded nine years ago range from children—including those with physical or cognitive disabilities—to adult professionals, male and female.
