MANHATTAN — A heavy police presence on Fifth Avenue greeted the crowds trying to get a glimpse of Donald Trump as he left for his Criminal Court arraignment downtown.
The start of the motorcade’s journey from Trump Tower in Midtown drew critics and supporters of the first former U.S. president to be indicted.
These photos give a sense of the scene outside Trump’s residence before his historic court appearance.
He pleaded not guilty to 34 felony counts related to what the office of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg describes as payoffs to cover up the relevation of affairs with a porn actress and a Playboy model. Trump hoped to prevent potential damage to his 2016 campaign, prosecutors say.
