In Chinatown, when it rains, it puddles. Pools of water along curbs, potholes and gutters can last for days after rainfall – collecting trash, chemicals and emanating a stench. Two out of five visitors surveyed said they’re less likely to head to Chinatown because of the problems associated with so-called ponding. Business owners and residents are urging the city to establish an effective system to record and track repair requests.
