Manhattan —

British endurance swimmer Lewis Pugh leaped into the Hudson River with a mission and a message.

His mission: to become the first person to swim the river’s entire length —315 miles — unassisted.

His message: to highlight the importance of clean rivers for the global environment.

He ended his four-week aquatic odyssey in the Manhattan — just in time for the gathering of world leaders at the United Nations General Assembly, the UN Climate Ambition Summit, and Climate Week NYC 2023.
